Surfing the Cosmic Ocean – Beyond the Illusion of Separation

It is undeniable that we are living through a supreme moment; a moment between epochs, with old ways crumbling amid the new birthing through. This is a time in which we have no time to lose. A transitional stage of simultaneous breakdown and breakthrough ruptures our status-quo worldview as wicked systemic problems can no longer be addressed with an outdated linear and mechanistic mindset. The world is crying out for a Great Homecoming now. A homecoming back to the land, to our bodies, and to the heart of what matters most.

It is a complete fallacy to assume that entrepreneurialism, development, growth, value-creation and operational excellence inherently come at a cost to life. This fallacy is a bi-product of yesterday’s thinking, based on a flawed understanding about how the world works. We can and must do things differently, not just for ourselves, not just for our children, not just for those less fortunate than ourselves, but for the wider fabric of life. Yesterday’s logic is founded upon control-based thinking and egotism. It is fear-based, setting humans apart from each other and the rest of nature. This outdated logic is at the heart of all our crises. Vital for the transformation to a new logic is a shift from fear and domination to love and empowerment. Head-thinking is transformed into heart-thinking where love provides the foundation for right thought and right action. Loving interest in each unfolding moment provides for active creativity which is calm yet energised, patient yet passionate, devoted yet tolerant. Importance is placed not what we do but the way that we do it. Doing small things with love transcends the self-limiting illusions of yesterday’s logic.

To make regenerative business a reality we need regenerative leaders – people willing to take responsibility for creating and delivering value in life-affirming ways. This is not an off-the-shelf, tick-the-box approach. It is a journey of personal, organisational and societal development that each of us will embark upon in myriad unique ways. It is envisioned that these qualities act as signposts as we each journey individually and collectively back to sacred reconnection – to our personal truth, our planetary family, our sacred purpose, our power, our sovereignty, and our beautiful planet Earth.

“Like all magnificent things, it’s very simple.”
― Natalie Babbitt

Beauty in Simplicity

Today’s dominant, yet dying worldview, still holds on to separateness, and sees consciousness as something limited to within our own brains. The task of our time is to learn to let go and connect to Source so that we can get back in tune with the wisdom of nature. It is this wisdom (and its medicine) that we desperately need to find solutions to today’s challenges; solutions unencumbered by the same logic that created the problems in the first place. It can seem paradoxical to suggest to the busy business mind that the wise course of action is for the leader is to stop, pause, take time out, breathe deep, connect and then sense and respond. However, this is exactly what is needed at this time, amidst the cacophony and confusion. The other side of complexity is beautiful simplicity.

It is time for a Sacred (R)evolution of love and reverence for self, each other, the planet, and the Web of All Life. It’s time for a bottom line of love aimed at restorative justice, collective healing, and fierce liberation so that we can all live into our (r)evolutionary potential right now, at this most crucial time in human history. When we fail to love ourselves, we tend to think of ourselves as “victims” – victims of fate, victims of other people, victims of an unfair world. Once you see yourself as a victim, you give up the authority to effectively manage your life. You seek solutions, validation, love, and attention from outside of yourself. There is no perfect partner, job or situation that can override your victim consciousness.

“Life is a lot like surfing… When you get caught in the impact zone, you’ve got to just get back up. Because you never know what may be over the next wave.”
― Bethany Hamilton

The Shifting Tide

The metamorphic wave we are currently surfing points to a major transformation from one level of consciousness to another: a shift in our attention, in our way-of-being-in-the-world. This is a shift from an essentially ego-centric consciousness rooted in fear, separation, scarcity, power-over, and control to a soul-centric consciousness rooted in love, connectedness, abundance, power-with, synchronicity, and emergence. Quantum physics shows us that the field of quantum information we create with our thoughts and emotions eventually manifests “in formation” in the material world. If you want to experience deep, passionate, undying love, you must create that field of information first. You must BE love first. You do this by demonstrating to the Quantum Field that you love you. In the midst of the environmental, economic, social, and global health climate we’re living in, has there ever been a more important time to nourish and protect your body, and cultivate your vitality and life force?

We tend to give a lot of lip service to the idea of self-care. There are countless posts on social media of people meditating, fast action montages of yoga flows, and pictures of beautifully manicured feet propped up on the edge of a bathtub filled with bubbles. However, self-care isn’t only about taking a short pause in your week to do something nice for yourself. Self-care is also about having a mindset and a sense of healthy self-worth that aligns with your true value. It means having a self-generous inner and outer environment so that the way you speak to yourself and allow others to speak to you is kind and worthy of the wonder that is you.

Self-care is about trusting in your value to the degree to which you also trust in the support of Life. You know you deserve to be supported in the fulfillment of your dreams, right? Here’s the thing: if you don’t have your self-care nailed down, it’s going to impact every area of your life including your finances, your health and wellness, your relationships, your career and creative fulfillment and even your spiritual connection. The challenge of working in a healthy way happens when our thoughts get corrupted by our conditioning.

“Unlearning is an essential part of evolving …. And evolving is an essential part of finding yourself.”
― Sandeep Sahajpal

Unlearning Your Conditioning

Your mind is not the enemy. You need your mind; it’s your friend. It’s the mechanism that translates divine inspiration – the Quantum Field – and Life’s evolving intelligence, into concrete information so you know what’s next and which actions to take. Somewhere along the line, you internalised the message that it is somehow not okay for you to be who you truly are in the world. For many of us, this message was given to us day after day in subtle ways. So, we learned to be someone we were not. We tried to master formulas for “success” that often involved hiding our authentic identity. This experience of learning to be someone we’re not is experienced in the body as trauma. Obviously, this is not the same kind of trauma as being assaulted, but our brains and bodies don’t always know the difference between macro and micro traumas. These micro-traumas impact us right down to the cellular level and interfere with the 9 core essential archetypes that need to be operating in a healthy way if you are going to be a resilient conscious leader.

The 9 Core Archetypes

  1. Lovability

  1. Self-Worth

  1. Authenticity

  1. Self-Trust

  1. Courage

  1. Decisiveness

  1. Emotional Wisdom

  1. Vitality

  1. Empowerment

When you struggle with any of these 9 core archetypes, it conditions your thinking. Your mind goes into overdrive, thinking thoughts that are ultimately defensive, hyperactive and push you to “figure out” what you need to do to stay safe and to fulfill societies expectations for you. This reactive experience of the mind is the part of your mind that you need to tame, decondition and heal. The unconditioned mind is a conduit for inspiration, life’s intelligence and wisdom. It is not pressurised or frenetic but focused and clear. The unconditioned mind is essential for co-creating with the Quantum Field. We know that your thoughts create neurotransmitters which, in turn, create an emotional response. This emotional response is a frequency of energy that calibrates the electromagnetic field of the heart and programs the mind to see opportunities that match the frequency of energy that you’re emanating.

Diversity in a Display of Unity - The Power of Love

The mind is a vital part of your creative power, but you must know how to vet the thoughts in your head. We know it’s been a rough couple of years. Many of us have put genuine self-care on the back burner in an attempt to merely survive the constantly changing landscape. Isn’t it time you created an inner and outer environment that truly supports your authentic dreams and alignment? Love is the power that runs the cosmos and sets the tone and direction for all of creation. The truths of love, compassion, awakening, connection, and massive visionary insights are what will pull us back into the light and guide us to rise above the chaos. In order to become effective and authentic leaders in our future-fit organisations, we must learn how best to embrace this fundamental shift in consciousness.

While there is plenty to be down about these days, inured as we are by a paradigm short on love and big on fear, it is a period where scientific discoveries are now verifying the ancient knowing that consciousness pervades all aspects of our world and universe. Innate at all scales of our microcosmic and macrocosmic worlds is an all-pervasive presence, a cosmic ocean, matrix or womb; what quantum scientists call the ‘quantum field’ and mystics before us have called the Tao, Akasha, Shekinah, Divine Ground, Motherly Space, Cosmic Intellect. Everything dances with its own unique vibration yet immersed within the deeper symphony of life: the music of the spheres. Consciousness is a universal phenomenon with individual beings displaying their own uniqueness yet embodied within this universal consciousness. We are differentiated yet not separated; diversity in a beautiful display of unity. This is the sacredness of life.

“The major work of the world is not done by geniuses. It is done by ordinary people, with balance in their lives, who have learned to work in an extraordinary manner.”
― Gordon B. Hinckley

Balancing Co-creative Tensions

Science and spirituality, psychic and physical, nature and nurture, mind and matter, yin and yang co-create as communing lovers, interplaying in a way that makes the word ‘and’ between them a poor representation of reality. Words cannot cover the dimensions of truth, they only chop up, fragment and so impoverish it. In reality, there is no fragmenting separation, no ‘and’ nor ‘either/or’, only a fluid attunement of co-creative tensions. And so, our modern minds – plagued as we are with the illusion of separation, self-created in order to grasp, define and manipulate the ever-changing fluid flux of this world – are beginning to perceive a deeper reality beyond the confines of our materialism.

This beginning is The Great Awakening, which comes with the profound, ancient realisation that we are participating within the intelligent process of our own evolution, nested within the soulful destiny of Nature. This awakening is a metamorphosis of our prevailing anthropocentric logic, underlying today’s rampant consumerism, transforming into the wise logic of being inspired by and in harmony with Nature. As Confucius said five centuries before Christ, “He who is in harmony with Nature hits the mark without effort and apprehends the truth without thinking.”  In seeing beyond the illusion of separation we begin to attune with the wisdom of life itself. We are the wave realising it is part of the ocean, the knower and the known empathically embracing their reciprocity, and the unity within diversity becoming self-evident.

“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”
― Dr. Seuss

Life's Destiny = Learning to Love

Sacred ecology is essential for the ‘Great Turning’ now in our midst. Here, the separate self becomes a differentiated expression within deeper Nature: our souls attune within the oceanic anima mundi. Here we recognise the wisdom of Nature as within and all around us: reciprocity, diversity, co-creativity, fluidity, resilience, emergence, divinity, grace, consciousness. This is a far cry from the centralised, hierarchic, control-based, reductionist, quantised logic pervading many of today’s commercial, social, environmental, religious, governmental and non-profit organisations. Bring on the revolution of the soul and, if you are just stirring, welcome to the Great Awakening!

Life’s destiny is learning to love ourselves (our conscious and unconscious depths of mind, heart, body, soul), to love each other (relating authentically through our quality of attention in opening up to the unfolding reciprocity of life), and to love Nature (the matrix of life itself, the cosmic womb of our being and becoming, the all-pervasive Source Field flowing through and beyond us). This is the magic of radical sustainability and it needs no money, no manipulation, no hurry, no worry, no stress; a path that leads to our authentic being in the world through courage and wisdom.

“Alchemy is the process of changing lead into gold. Inner alchemy (personal transformation) occurs when we clear our clutter – internal and external – and let go of things that no longer serve us well. This creates balance and space, a place that nurtures contentment, which I believe is true success.”

Phoenix Rising

Phoenix Leadership is inspiring leaders to redesign how they lead and run organisations in a way that is actually in tune with life. Nature really is our greatest teacher if we zoom in on its intelligence at work, its processes, dynamic structures, systems and cycles. Nature constantly evolves, regenerates and collaborates seemingly effortlessly. So, what can our business models, our innovation of materials, and the way we lead and collaborate learn from nature? How do we build thriving, resilient, vibrant organisations where people passionately contribute and expand? We do not need to impose another ideology or set of beliefs onto reality. Rather, we need to hold space for opening and heightening our attention individually and collectively. In this way, we can allow the truth to co-creatively emerge free from dogma. Nature, within and all around us, is the participating aliveness of this co-creativity and love is the fuel for co-creation. There is no better time and place than the situation we find ourselves in to open our hearts and minds to Nature – this is the beginning of a truly sustainable logic: inspired by and in harmony with Nature.
