If gravity is the glue that holds the universe together, balance is the key that unlocks its secrets. Next to love, balance is the most important thing. Extreme opposites are actually just different degrees of the same thing. Hot and cold are different temperatures; high and low are just different measurements of a vertical scale.
The Universal Law of Polarity
“Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled.” — The Kybalion.
All things exist in a state of balance: high and low, in and out, hot and cold, fast and slow, loud and soft- the interplay of opposites. Between the polarities rests a balance point, a centre. Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony.
A new awakening is taking place at this time. A resurfacing of ancient truths – an inner alchemy – a merging of divine feminine and divine masculine that religious dogma has enshrouded for centuries. The union of masculine and feminine polarities is fundamental in the quantum physics of creation. The two polarities, the magnetic (female) and electric, (male) coming together to form a trinity. This geometry occurs when a planet is being born and when the first 2 cells of a human being form in the womb and the creation of Light. We need both the feminine and masculine in equal proportions for creation to occur and to keep all life in balance
Our greatest potential as humans is met in the incorporation and balance of our internal Divine Masculine and Feminine energies. Equally inherent to both men and women, our behaviours, thought-patterns and tendencies dictate the balance of these complementing energies.
We each carry a complex psychological and emotional makeup of past experiences, learned behaviour and self-discovery contributing to our internal wellbeing and external reality. This can cause one or both energies to be out of balance, stagnant, oppressed, confused, or disrespected in some manner. Often times, self-imposed thoughts of inadequacy, self-loathing, or doubt tend to be the greatest perpetrator of imbalance in the masculine and feminine energies.
Masculine Energy is direct, like a straight line. It projects outward, it secures and has a giving nature.
Feminine Energy is cyclic, like a circle. It’s directed inward, it nurtures and has a receiving nature.
When they both work together, they dance and form a spiral, moving upwards, thriving and growing. The two sides of your body are reflecting these energies: left being predominately feminine and the right side being more masculine.
Anything that we do, we can overdo or under do. If our internal pendulum swings to one side, it will inevitably swing to the other. Not only does our survival depend on balanced biological systems, so does the quality of our life and the state of our psyche. Much like riding a bicycle, too often, most of us live a life that is far out of balance – putting the things that are not as important first, or letting them tip the scales too far in one direction.
So what can you do if you find your life swinging mildly, or wildly, off balance?
Use the Force — Thoughts creates things. The amount of love energy with which we allow our thoughts to be created and expressed is the key to balancing our outer world. Love energy is the strongest force in the universe. Anchored in love, we are able to listen to multiple opposing viewpoints without feeling we must defend our own. When we use the force and come from our heart space, we are able to be strong within our knowing of who we are and what we stand for. Right action is obvious and we are also aware of when we need to rest.
Remaining centred in love energy, we see ourselves as we truly are, not more than or less than anyone else. We honour our own personal journey, as it continues to unfold, and we honour others where they are at on their journey.
Addiction is the most obvious sign of imbalance. We are addicted when we find ourselves tied to fearful or obsessive conduct. We may be bound to the fear of losing money, a person, or some role that we feel we cannot do without. We give our power away by becoming bound to toxic people, substances and repetitive patterns. We can easily become addicted to our thoughts, mistaking the story we tell ourselves for who we truly are.
To bring balance, we must do the opposite of what we have been programmed to do. When you recognise any feeling of bondage, do all in your power seek liberation! Recognise that most of the world’s problems are caused by illusion. We hold various illusions that money, other worldly goods, or power, will bring us happiness. Happiness of course comes from within, from knowing oneself and walking our own path in freedom.
Interrupting Programmed Patterns
Consider how you can reprogram your reptilian brain and gain more balance through working both sides of any spectrum.
- Do you talk loudly or rapidly?
Experiment by talking very slowly or quietly.
- Do you eat too quickly?
Experiment by eating too slowly.
- Do you often feel muscular tension?
Experiment by becoming too relaxed.
Do you work too much or too little? Are you too rigid or too sensitive?
Do you act too dependent or too independent. Are you overconfident or under-confident?
Are you uptight or self-indulgent? Are you more inclined to give or to receive?
How might you bring these behaviours back into balance?
Addictions hold up the temptation of something illusionary. At times we are more vulnerable to control or manipulation. Sometimes we are the manipulator – longing for something that will temporarily satisfy our material desires can become an obsession. In these ways, we are further bound until we choose to make decisions that are not based on fear, desire, or guilt.
When you discover you have unhealthy attachments or jealous obsessions about someone or something, see it as an opportunity to face some of your old fears and obsessions. Shadow work is the ultimate path to balance. Everyone has dark and secret places that they would rather not acknowledge. Pay attention to anything that shocks, disturbs, alarms, and secretly thrills you. What we place importance in – whether good or bad – says a lot about us.
7 Essential Balance Practices
- Notice the impulse to move toward or away from various people, places and things. Choose to remain neutral instead.
2. Go with the flow. Practice being content with whatever is happening, rather than seeking to have your personal agenda filled.
3. Practice compassionate presence in circumstances that you would usually find undesirable or uncomfortable.
4. Practice non-reactivity when conflict arises and seek a balanced, peaceful resolution.
5. Observe your thoughts without judgement or labels of “negative or positive”, instead focus on how these thoughts make you feel.
6. Reframe any negative self-talk with a positive twist.
7. Several times a day, drop into your heart space and practice gratitude. This regenerates your high vibe love energy.
We gradually let go of our addiction to thought patterns each time we centre ourselves in love. When the power of our love matches the power of our thoughts, we come into balance. From this place of centredness, we are clear about our place in the world. From this stable space of knowing, we are then able to co-create the life we love through right action and receptivity.
