Once upon a time…
At a large mountainside, there was an eagle nest with four large eagle eggs inside.
One day, an earthquake rocked the mountain causing one of the eggs to roll down to a chicken farm, located in the valley below.
The chickens knew that they must protect the eagle egg, so they each took turns sitting on the egg until, eventually, the eagle egg hatched and a beautiful baby eagle was born.
Being chickens, the chickens raised the eagle to be a chicken. The eagle loved his home and family, but his spirit cried out for more.
He gazed up to the skies above and noticed a group of mighty eagles soaring. “Oh,” the eagle cried, “I wish I could soar like those birds!”
The chickens roared with laughter, “Don’t be silly, you can’t soar! You are a chicken and chickens do not soar.” The eagle continued staring at his real family up above, wishing that he could be like them.
Every time the eagle talked about his dreams, he was told it couldn’t be done.
So that is exactly what the eagle learned to believe. After some time, the eagle stopped dreaming and continued to live his life as a chicken.
Finally, after a long life as a chicken, the eagle passed away.
“The most confused you will ever get is when you try to convince your heart and spirit of something your mind knows is a lie.”

Moral of the Story:
What you believe is true for you. Beliefs are choices. First you choose your beliefs. Then your beliefs affect your choices. Your choices shape your actions. Your actions determine your results. The future you create depends upon the choices you make and the actions you take today. If you don’t change your beliefs, your life will be like this forever. Is that good news?
Your dream is not a democracy, listen to your heart not the masses. People who lack the clarity, courage, or determination to follow their own dreams will often find ways to discourage yours. The road is long in every direction. Whether you follow someone else’s footsteps or blaze your own trail, the road is still long. Walk the one that is howling for you. Go now. It is never too late. Even if you must turn around and go back the way you came, you cannot go backwards. The path will not look the same walking North as it did walking South. You will not be the same person facing the Sunset as you were turning your back to it. Go now. Live!
“Your beliefs will be the light by which you see, but they will not be what you see and they will not be a substitute for seeing.”
— Flannery O’Connor
Affirmation: Every day I am editing and improving my beliefs.
